Thanks for the grandma comment. She's my one alive Jesus-loving relative. It was cool last night getting home at 1am and going to bed at 2am. I called her up as i went to sleep; and told her all about the sun and the earth and the golfballs Louie keeps mentioning; and so we worshiped together for a while. And then, as i went to sleep, she watched her favorite "church" sermon on TV because it's cold and icy, and she can't go to church. It was so comforting to know that the other half of the world was worshiping while i could take a rest and sleep.
Nathaniel is phenomenal. He painted this to the musical series of Mussorgsky called "Pictures at an Exhibition." He did a 20ish picture art gallery at his house from all these paintings. The kid is only 5. However, Gail, this painting has become very special, because not only did he like to think of the city gate of Kiev as the gate to the heavenly Jerusalem; but at Passion one of the banners had Kiev and Jerusalem both on it. I balled my eyes out while Chris and Matt warmed up that Thursday morning, once i saw that banner, read those two cities, and cried, and prayed for the coming generation. Nathaniel will be a lead-worshipper in some area of life when he grows up; as will his brother Simon. I will post Simon's picture shortly; and one of Nathaniel, too.
Way back when I studied music I had an exam. We had to write an essay about a piece of music that we hadn't hear previously. It was the "Hall of the Mountain King " from "Pictures at an Exhibition " Now that is from the impressionist period of music. Don't you think that Nathaniel's picture looks like one of VG's impressionistic paintings?? What a talent he has.
I need socks like that!!!and red shoes :)
How special to be able to share with your Granmother after such a good night of worship.
Silke, this verse is from one of my favouite Hymns.
As o'er each continent and island The dawn leads on another day, The voice of prayer is never silent, NOR DIES THE STAIN OF PRAISE AWAY.!!!!
So sweet dreams, as we downunder, continue to praise the only One worthy of all our praises.
